YMMV.
I have only done a few CLI on my AMEX cards, but have apped enough to get 5 revolvers and PRG. I have overall $55k in Revolver limits and never a 4506T. I also am fortunate to have a decent income, and now 5 years history since the $2k Delta app in mid 2013.
All those sorts of factors will affect your specific results.

FYI my husbands loathes talking on the phone especially to credit card companies so not sure if I can get him to call or wait for the letter but does this seem like a denial?
In my experience that has always been a denial; he'll probably be getting a letter in a few days.

I got approved for 2 AMEXs with $15K limits each.
Amex SPG - 15K
Amex Delta - 15K
I have a charge card too but that doesn't really count right, so this puts my AMEX limits at ~$30K already
Would the 3X CLI already trigger their review? I heard once you try to get over 30K limit with AMEX they require the IRS-4056T form for income/asset verification.
But that was years ago
Whats it like now and should I? I know its just a quick thing and no hard pull but was wondering if there is any optimization these days
Yea, asking for 45K just might. It won’t hurt to ask for it, then back down 1K at a time until your approval... 44, 43.... or do it 5K at a time. I bet you can get it to 35K for sure.

Yea, ask for what your comfortable with. 40K and work your way down if you don’t want to submit the docs!
Has anyone that started with a $500 recently been successful with the 3x CLI? My Everyday 61 day is tomorrow just curious if there is even a chance at an approval.

Those are tough, your in AmEx’s version of credit steps. Did you get an email?
You can try, but they’re often denials.
That's definitely a decline; and if he calls in they will tell him he applied for a CLI too early. Given his $500 SL he appears to be in Amex's version of "credit steps" and the maximum he will get is a 2x auto-cli after 180 days (5 statement cuts). After the 2x auto-CLI at 180 days he can then apply for the 3X CLI. Since the 2x is automatically granted by Amex, it doesn't prevent him from immediately requesting the 3X.

You can certainly request a CLI but its unlikely you will get it given your $500 SL and the scores in your signature. But you have nothing to lose; all Amex will tell you is that you aren't eligible until after 180 days (5 statement cuts) but a request now does not reset the clock so if you are denied now just wait for your 2x auto-cli at 180 days.
