Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Well my time is coming but how do I go about and do this?  Should I call them?  Start a chat?  Is there a button or a link to click?

Also how to count to 61 days?  My card was instantly approved on Oct 26th.  Is Dec 26 day 61?

Under Account Services > Select 'Payment & Credit Options' (on your left) > Click 'Increase Your Credit Limit' Link.  Fill out the form, hit submit.   That's it.

Yes, Dec. 26th would be day 61.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I have 3 AMex cards. My latest one just hit 61 days and I want to try the 3x CLI for the first time (haven’t asked for CLI on any of AMEX cards before). I have some balances but it’s on the cards that I have 0% interest on and the balances are about 15% of my total credit line. I pay multiple times a mth on all of my cards and I keep one of the cards at 0 balance (put a few small charges on it and PIF). My corporate Amex has about $6K in charges on it. I am waiting for the company to pay off the balance. Should I hold off on requesting the 3X CLI until my company payment on my corporate card is applied? Or should I make more payments on my other cards then request? Or does it not matter to Amex since I’ve established a history of paying the balances down?

Some DPs - across all 3 Credit bureaus, my F8 scores are in the mid 700s. No baddies on my report except for 3 student loan late payments from 6 yrs ago.

Thanks!

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

In my experience, a balance doesn't matter.  However, if it were me. I would request a 3X CLI on my highest CL regardless of which one has a balance, then reallocate CLs where necessary.

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

Derp. I got denied my 3x CLI.

Reason: "low fico score"

Fico score given: 719

Reporting balance: $67/2000 when applied.

.... ok then

Re: The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

If it were me MusicLovah7, I would definitely wait until that $6K payment posted. I’m of the mindset that I want my UT to be the lowest possible so I can get the highest possible CLI. 😉

NFCU Visa - $307/$15,000

Lowes - $0/$5000

GECU Gold Visa - $0/$5000

Amex ED - $67/$2000

PayPal MC - $0/$2000

Discover - $259/$1750

Sams Club MC - $0/$1500

NFCU Amex - $0/$1000

Target - $0/$500

Cap1 Secured - $0/$500

So, I don't really understand. Perhaps its because of my profile age going back to 5mos from 1 yr from the new accs?

Okay, so I'm going to take a stab since you didn't provide much DPs. Are you saying your AAOA is 5 months. If yes, then yes, that would be a big factor for a decline.

How many accounts have your opened in the last 3/6/12 months and how many inquiries in the same timeframe?

Also, usually more than one reason is given for a decline. What were the other reasons beside low score?
