Last CLI Received on one of the accounts: 07/29/2012
I will complete 180 days since last CLI on January 25, 2013. (2+31+30+31+30+31+25). Eligible date for CLI going by this rule = January 26, 2013
I will complete 6 months since last CLI on January 29, 2013. Eligible date for CLI going by this rule = January 30, 2013
Am planning on attempting on Jan 26 first. My credit score is near 800 on EX and I have been tracking the softs. If I get denied, it will be most likely because of violating the eligibility rules and not income/credit profile. I will attempt again on Jan 30 if that is the case without necessarily waiting for email/snail mail. It will also confirm if I reset the window during the attempted credit shuffle on 08/14/2012
If others have datapoints to share, please do.
Received 7-10 message on the CLI attempt. So looks like I jumped the gun lol bummer
Received a request for 4506T in the mail yesterday which was the reason for the 7-10 days message and not "jumping the gun". So we have established a couple more things
Last month I was approved for the Amex Platinum and Amex PRG. The overall exposure for Amex has definitely increased substantially within a short time period from Amex perspective which may be the reason why they want to verify my income eventhough this isn't a request to go over $25000 for a single line, which is typically the reason for 4506T.
This is not a full blown Financial Review which is often confused with a 4506T request. All 4 cards are fully functional, in fact I called in CSR yesterday for a different issue and she said at one point "We Love You" (I thought to myself "Apparently not that much")
Here is a screenshot of the Amex letter requesting 4506T which is dated January 28, 2 days after I went for the CLI.
Here is the direct link to form 4506T http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506t.pdf
Just like the OP indicates(Walt_K thanks again!), the letter suggests that if I don't respond within 30 days, there will be no consideration for the CLI request for my BCP account. I wil updated OP with the new data points and maybe add a section for 4506T specifically.
FWIW, I just faxed the completed form this morning!
Wow that is awful. Requesting a 4506T for $4k to $12k. Dunno if I'm going to ask for another CLI w/ AMEX.

Just went from $2K to $6K on my BCE!
Congrats! Were you carrying a balance when you did your request?

- "6 months" is actually 180 days and not 6 calendar months.
- A failed attempt to move credit limits during the 180 day quiet period doesn't reset the original 180 days clock. Still need to verify a successful attempt though if anyone has a data point.

- This CLI request was for my BCP from $4000 to $12000. So in certain circumstances Amex can ask for 4506T for CLI requests even if it is for < $25k, if they feel their overall exposure across a number of cards for the same person is risky until income verification.

It isn't clear to me from your post where the $12,000 put you at with regard to Amex exposure, but my understanding is that they will ask for a 4506T when total exposure goes over $34,500.

Just one. Then six months for either one.
I just read this and thought why not. I had initially opened my Costco Amex last March with a starting limit of $15,700 and pretty much forgot about cli'ing it until today. I asked for a cli to $47,100 (3x) and got an increase to $33,900 (a little over 2x). Not bad I would say...
