Hello guys! I just got an offer from US Bank for their Cash+ Card stating that my "excellent credit history pre-qualifies" me for the card. Also they have provided a new card member bonus if I spend $500 and I will receive $100 bonus.
I read a lot of reviews about this card and it seems very mixed. There are a lot of those who love it and I would say an equal amount of those that don't.
From my understanding, it seems like a hassle to change the categories every quarter, the categories have a very narrow/restrictive definition on where you can use the card, and the card is always changing for the worse.
I would like to hear what you guys think about the card, any tips/suggestions would be appreciated.
Current Cards:
Chase Freedom $500 | Chase Sapphire $5K | Amazon Rewards $2.5K | Discover It $1.5K | Capital One Quicksilver $3.5K | Citi Double Cash $3.3K | Citi ThankYou Preferred $2K (hate this card) | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $9K | Bank of America Travel Rewards $1.5K | Barclay Sallie Mae $9.4K | AARP Rewards $4.5K
SD: Citi ThankYou Preferred, Chase Sapphire, Amazon Rewards, BOA Travel Rewards
First of all, not a bad signup bonus ![]()
I don't personally own this card but I feel like a lot of the mixed reviews come from original owners who had all the awesome rewards in the past. After all the nerfs they did to the card, I still feel like it is a decent cashback card granted you have use for the categories they provide now. I'm not sure I will apply for it now (although I've been eyeing it for several months) since I have other cards that provide me with decent enough cash back for my spending. I just feel like the 5% categories they have now aren't really categories that involve a lot of expenses....at least for me.

Thanks for your response
yeah I agree with what you said, but what worries me about the card too is that a lot of people reported not receiving their cashback bonus from categories as the retailer's definition does not fit their requirements. They seem pretty restrictive with that. If that's the case it seems more of a hassle to have the card..
Congrats on your pre-approval. I'm so jealous ![]()
Did you get the offer from mail? What's is you FICO score now?

Hey there and thanks
Lol does pre-qualified and pre-approved mean the same thing? My Fico score as of last month is 754 and yeah I got the offer in the mail. So I take it you want this card? Any reason why? lol it seems kind of crappy not sure if I should go for it or not..

You hit the nail on the head! Well said. For me the current categories have been narrowed so they do not fit my spend pattern. Closed the card and moved on. Too bad it had been so sweet![]()

I need to close some of my cards but a lot of people on here seem so against closing cards. So you probably had the card when it was good..
The categories come in handy occasionally. Especially Bookstores at Amazon if you don't have the Sallie Mae, or if you need to make a expensive purchase such as a HDTV. The $100 is useful. I don't see how its any worse than a Freedom or Discover card.

Yeah I have the Sallie Mae card. So do all Amazon purchases count for the 5% cash back?

I have a plan to buy a new laptop at BestBuy in the near future; with Cash+, I could get 5% back. Also it's a perfect card for cell phone bill payment. My Fico is close to yours but I didn't get any offer from US Bank, so I assume you have checking/savings relationship with it, don't you ![]()
