Update: 30 day message from Chase. Hope it's good news!

Update: Called verification and they transferred me to lending. I hung up before they could connect the call. I guess I will have to ride this one out!

Update 2: Called verification back and this time the CSR said he wanted to transfer me to a 'specialist department' (Pretty sure that was just Chase-speak for lending). Smiley Frustrated I let him transfer me this time. Got on the line with the 'senior specialist' CSR who said he needed a few minutes to look over the app, and placed me on hold He came back and said that they have an internal timeframe of up to 10 days to review the application, and they will notify me if they needed anything. I clarified that at this time they did not need any additional information from me, and the rep said no. So I guess it's truly a waiting game at this point.

-----------------------------------------

I've never had a lot of luck with Chase CLI's. The limits I've been given when opening the accounts are the limits I've been stuck with. I cycle a fair amount of spend through my Chase cards, and pay them in full if there's an interest-bearing balance. I've never been lucky enough to receive the CLI invite, or the rare auto-CLI. When I've called in for a HP CLI before, I've gotten no love from them. They're no BoA, that's for sure!

I decided to jump on one more September inquiry before I call it quits for the next 7 months. Instedad of asking for a HP CLI on one of my current cards, I applied for the IHG card for the 80K (will call in for 100K if I get approved) offer. I was expecting either an immdiate approval or denial, so I was a little suprised when I got the 30 day message for the first time ever!

Usually they just tell me yes or no, so this is new to me. I've already called the app status line, and it's still at 30 days, so I'm hoping for an approval. I'm going to wait this one out and not poke the bear, and hopefully it shows up in my account online. Smiley Wink

After the signup bonus, I don't see myself keeping the card, so I will be rolling the limit into either my Amazon or my Freedom Unlimited. AARP is also getting rolled into those next year.

Call the 800 status line just in case they need verification!

I don't expect Chase to show me CLI love either, but I do plan on using AARP Disney and other cobranded cards to increase the limits on my bank cards.

I called. They wanted to transfer me to lending. I hung up before the call was transferred. I don't know if I should poke the bear or not. I'm going to take a shower and go grab a bite to eat.

I do expect to be approved, but I really want a nice big limit to make my Amazon and Freedom Unlimited cards into decent 5 digit powerhouses.

Have you called the automated status number yet? Those will give you a better indicator of where this app might be.

If the automated number says:
1-"you'll hear from us in approximately 2 weeks" then you have a HIGH chance it's approved

2-"you'll receive our decision in writing in 14 days" you have a GOOD chance of approval, but your app was forwarded and you'll likely encounter the verification call requirement

3-"you'll hear from us in writing in 7-10 days" is hit or miss. 50/50 shot on this message, but is more popularly associated with a denial

4-"you'll hear from us in writing in 30 days" is also 50/50, but lends itself towards the approval side

5-the system automatically forwards you to a live agent, I don't about this one. I've only encountered this once with them and hung up lol, resulted in approval though

As always YMMV but I've noticed these trends with Chase personally over the last couple of years. Good luck!

I just called the app status line again, and It's still sitting at 30 days. They definitely don't want verification, they just want me to speak to lending. I think I'm gonna call them back.

This is pretty new territory for me, as all my prior Chase apps have been an immediate approval, or an immediate 7-10 (aka, denial).

Another update.

Called in on Thursday because the app status line was still saying 30 days. CSR said it had been forwarded for final review, but everything looked good. I asked if any additional information or verification of information was needed, and she said no.

Checked the status again this morning, and got the 7-10 day message. Card isn't showing up in my Chase online account, so I'm thinking it's a no.

Sorry to hear that. Wait for the letter and see what it says. If the reasons are things you can confidently contest, give them a call back and recon. I've noticed with Chase recon that if you have a reasonable reason to their issues they will take a 2nd look and it can result in an approval. If the reasons are time factors (too many inquiries/new accounts) then I guess you'll want to sit tight for a few months and revisit it later on. Hang in there!

Wow, Chase is taking their sweet time. I know they say up to 30days, but I don't recall one that actually went as long as two weeks. If it's a denial, I'd recon the crap out of that considering how long you've wait thusfar. Fight tooth and nail! Unless it's for 5/24, there's no reconning that. Good luck! Smiley Very Happy

Re: Update: 30 day message from Chase. Hope it's good news!

I applied for the CSP on 9/28 and received the 30 day message. After 24 hours, I called and was told nothing needed just waiting for review.

I called automated status line daily which continued to say 30 days until 10/6 when it said approved for 10k.
