Happy Monday everyone! I was hoping for a few more ppl to weigh in on the thread. Please share if you have any input, I appreciate your contribution.
@StephenH I just looked again at your sig and see you already have 2 cards with Cap1, so i would check on PC'ing up to the Venture X because normally you cant have more than 2 Cap1 cards.
I was under the impression that there is a limit of two "starter" cards- Platinum, Quicksilver One and there is a limit of five prime cards- Venture and Savor, or combination of starter and prime cards.
Please advise if there has been a change
I don't think you have the scores for the Venture X and if it were me I wouldn't risk three hard pulls. I have the Venture card with a 15k limit and when I called a few months back they only had an upgrade to Venture 1 or Quicksilver. My card will be a year old next month so maybe they will offer an upgrade at that time. I'm content with the Venture for now. As a data point my scores are about 100 points higher than yours. Keep in mind that if Penfed is only offering $1500 why would you expect to get $10,000+ from Cap1?
@C6 Because the minimum for the Venture X is $10K, and if he has a pre approval for the Venture cards than he has a fair chance to get the Venture X with his scores just like getting a Venture. I was instantly approved for my Amex and CSP with my score in the 650's.
+1 @Mdowning30
In addition, the penfed pre-approval (during the few hours it was up and running) proved to be wildly inconsistent. It resulted in denials for many and in some cases approvals for a CL far higher than the conditional pre-approval.
Taking into consideration DPs on the forum, I should easily get approved for +5k CL if I were to cold app despite the initial offer
