Wells Fargo Platinum

I received an offer in the mail with an invitation code for the Wells Fargo Platonum card.   

Any ideas on how reliable this is?  The only account I currently have with them is a mortgage.

"You're invited to apply for this card, so apply today." with the invitation code and has a dealine for April 12th.  I think it is just marketing now that I look at it closer.

Correct, just a marketing solicitation to apply. Typically, the code identifiers on either offer are simply a tracking mechanism for marketing purposes.

The pre-approved offers are fairly solid in the majority of cases though.
