Thanks again! I will leave it open for another 6-12 months at least.

And I've tried the Discover prequal, the first time a few months ago and then again a couple days ago. They're not willing to extend me any credit. I don't really blame them, I did burn them in my BK. Here's to hoping they're willing to forgive that somewhere down the road. I've read Discover and Barclays (also IIB for me) can both be BK-friendly, and in some cases, they're forgiving even if you burn them. I'll try to show them a solid rebuild before I ever go ahead and apply with them.

I would be very careful with Barclays, particularly since you had an IIB account with them. I've read dozens of horror stories in these forums about how jealous they can be (they really don't like it when you apply for other cards around the same time you apply for one of theirs) and how touchy and AA-prone they can be. The only card of theirs I've really been interested in is their Apple Rewards, but Goldman Sachs is taking it over sometime in the near future which may (I hope) transfer it to a less hair-trigger issuer.

A much better choice might be Navy Federal Credit Union, which has a good reputation for being BK-friendly. The catch is that you have to have either some direct connection to the military, as a servicemember or a civilian employee of the Department of Defense, or else be a direct relation of a current or former servicemember. In the latter case, you'll need some form of proof such as the form DD-214, which records the veteran's separation from service; my father was a Marine aviator in the 1960's so I've sent off to the National Personnel Records Center in St. Louis (you can file the request online but you need to send in a signed form as well) requesting his DD-214.
