Re: What kind of Amex card can I get with a relatively new credit history?

Getting an Amex in January or February 2015 would be good but getting it January 2016 would be better . That way you don't add a new account and new inquiry while your trying to build on what you already have and get your score up . If you get it Jan 2016 you'd get a better limit and you'll instantly have a 2 year old account . Good luck .

Do your husband has an Amex, maybe he can add you to his so you lock the MSD of 14.

Wait a few months then apply for it, make sure that they put MSD 14 on it.

AU don't get msd anymore. Only AU before 2011. So it will not help.

Thank you, I didn't understand then, I read that the MSD is locked but not backdated if get another AU, just primary.

There goes the plan for my DW to get her Amex in January to backdate to 01/14, she is AU from my card.

Wrong. MSD is not locked to basic cardmember, but is locked to date of AU addition. If basic is 2000 and AU is 2014 then AU will have 2014 date upon new account unlike before where AU would have had 2000 as MSD as well as basic.
