Where Do I Start? Looking to Re Apply Re Activate Ancient Amex

Where Do I Start? Looking to Re Apply Re Activate Ancient Amex

I'm investigating doing this twofold, to increase my AAoA and possibly get my foot in the door soon with AMEX.

Ages ago I had what I vaguely recall was an Amex Green Card. I was young and clueless and they closed the account on me. Balances I couldn't pay. Nothing horrendous or super high debt. Just couldn't do it.

I'm wondering about being able to get it reactivated. Mostly for age.

If so, where do I start, please? 🙏🏻

I do understand I will need to reapply. It'll be a HP. And were I to get it, they may backdate only 5 years. (Read that somewhere. Now I can't find the source link to reference it.)

Yes, adding 5 years would be a huge help.

I'm not sure if they would be able to reinstate a charged off account since outcomes will vary.  Perhaps @sjt might be able to offer some guidance.

Has the balance been paid or settled?  Where you enrolled in any type of repayment program? Is it still reflected on your CRAs?

TY. No, it's been years. I'm open to paying what the amount was. Or at least looking into it... finding out how much it was. I just don't even who/where to phone....

I edited/added some links to my previous response to see if any of those could help point you in the right direction.

Thx very much for pointing me in the right/pertinent direction to get started and even see what's feasible. I'm reading through them all now. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻  💳

Even though AMEX backdates as they do and  when I applied for my card 2 years ago it states member since 2001,  the account doesn't get the age history regardless , as it doesn't report like that .

I wouldn't get your hopes up about the backdating, even IF they happened to reinstate the account...Amex stopped backdating long ago, unfortunately. Smiley Frustrated

From my understanding, you have to be offered reinstatement. However, it would not hurt to ask for reinstatement or for the Optima Card. You can call the Global Collections at 800-700-7619 or 800-921-6490.
