I will just stick to my quicksilver card.

Nothing wrong with doing that, but the quicksilver is a 1.5% card. For certain purchases (e.g. Amazon right now), the Discover IT is a better choice. The Discover cards categories change and it defaults to 1% when not spending on a 5% category, so for other purchases the Quicksilver is a better choice. The Discover IT can work great when one wants to maximize cash back or points due to its 5% categories. When combined with other 5% rewards cards (US Bank Cash+, Barclays Sallie Mae, Chase Freedom, etc), the Discover IT allows for an optimized cash back or cash back/points strategy.

If you want a simple 1 card strategy consider the Citi DoubleCash. Much like the Quicksilver card, but effectively 2% cash back.

He has the QuicksilverONE and that card has a $39 annual fee that in other words means $3.25 each month, so even if he spends enough money to get let's say $4 dollars in rewards each month then he is actually just getting $0.75 Cents in rewards because again the card is costing $3.25 a month just to have it, i think a better choice from CapOne would've been this one Smiley Happy .... http://www.capitalone.com/credit-cards/journey-student/

Love my qs1. Have had it for 2 months and already racked up 20 dollars cash back. 39 dollar fee is paying for itself. In other words...no biggie to spend enough to cover fee quickly...not that hard.

Re: Why Discover IT card?

When did this turn into a Discover vs QS debate? That has nothing to do with the original question. But since we're comparing I've racked up $41 and some change in the last three weeks and there is no annual fee to cover so I'll stick with my Discover Smiley Wink

Re: Why Discover IT card?

Wow. Whats your problem? My point was to the person I quoted that its not that hard to actually benefit from rewards on qs1, regardless of a 39 dollar fee. Smh...so all that sarcasm can take a hike. Take care.
