So I caved in yesterday and put in an application for the Chase WOH card since my Experian is currently showing 4/24 and I recently got approved for two new cards which should be reporting anytime soon. Got the pending message after my application so I called in and the automated system gave me the two weeks message so I figured I'd leave it alone and see what happens. About 12 hours later I called the automated system again and that message has changed to the 30 day message. Not sure if I should call UW or just let it run its course.
Datapoints:
They pulled Experian which is at 748
0% utilization
Average age of my accounts is about 3 years
5 total inqs including the new one from chase, and another one from chase a month and a half ago (CSP approved $16900)
No baddies
Since I did recently get approved for my CSP I'm not really holding my breath but the WOH is a card i really want, If I get approved I'm considering downgrading the CSP for the no annual fee sapphire since my main travel card is the Altitude and the Hyatt would have the no FX fee (which i need since I'm out of the country for a majority of the year) + my 60k bonus should post soon as I've hit my spend a couple days ago.
Any input on whether I should call or not would be appreciated, they did need to verify some information for my CSP but I forgot which messages I was getting on the automated line.
To clarify, you just got CSP, applied for two more cards that aren't reporting yet, then went ahead and applied for this one?
I'd call, but that's me.
@Remedios Yup!
So I called the number on the back of my card and asked the friendly representative about the status of my application, I also mentioned that for my previous card the verification department needed to talk to me and verify some information, she took a look at the app and informed me that the application is currently reviewed by the lending department and everything looks good, nothing is needed as of now. She also asked me if I would like to be transferred to that department, I politley declined. automated system still showing 30 days. I'll keep you guys updated.
@Anonymous you just got CSP 10 days ago, you applied for another Chase card, and you have two that are about to report..
That's a credit stroke with a side of heart attack right there.
Dont call, dont drive past their branches, dont look at their logo. Dont even type about Chase.
On a more serious note, I hope you get to keep CSP. Because your Chase apps are so close together (kinda big Chase no-no), a human being will be taking a look.
Typically you'd want to wait at bare minimum three months, though that's not long enough for most.
The damage is already done, so dont draw any more attention to yourself.
A few scenarios are possible here, both cards get closed, second app gets denied while CSP remains intact, second app approved.
Let them do their thing without you running interfere of any kind. If you think you can say something to put Chase UW at ease, you havent talked to them.
Most open heart surgeries are less invasive than conversations with them.
Leave it alone, let the process play itself
Good luck
@Remedios Well it was almost two months ago, applied for the CSP jan 28th and it was approved feb 5th.
My fiance got the WOH feb 2nd then put in an application that same week for a CSR which immediatley got her flagged to the fraud/lending dept, after a good 10 minute grilling they simply declined the application stating that they waned to see how she holds the WOH but her account is still in good standing. She also got the correspondence through the online portal via the letters and notification section as soon as they mailed the additional information letter. None of that for me yet so hopefully I didn't set off any flags. Will keep you posted, I'm certainly not calling lending or UW unless I get a letter though!

The lighter side of rattling Chase's cage
Nothing yet... used my CSP this morning for a phone bill to see if it was still working, works fine. Application status line still giving me the 30 days message. I also checked the notices and letters page where I can see the verification letter they sent me when they wanted to verify my CSP when I applied so I'm guessing anything they send might pop up there, nothing yet. Oh the suspense

So good luck with the whole thing, but I should mention that when they switch to the 30 day message, that's usually a sign of an acceptance coming up.
Of course, as @Remedios has pointed out with exceptional eloquence, your real risk comes when Chase, a month or so down the road, does a soft pull and discovers that your CSP and WOH were part of a 4-card spree.
