My FICO 8 is 697. Any ideas where that would place me in terms of getting a Chase sapphire approval?

It's really anyone's guess since Chase doesn't rely on scores alone, let alone FICO 8. What does the rest of your profile look like. You'd probably get better guidance if you elaborate further.
Have you tried the pre-qual site? I'm 3-3 with pre-quals with Chase. Each time I've gotten a pre-approval with a firm APR, and got approved. Everyone's mileage may vary, but it's a good start.
You should be good. I was approved @ 670-ish EX FICO 8 at $8500 CL. I had a Freedom card for 3 years prior and a banking relationship with Chase for many years.
I was approved in 2014, my chase internal risk score was around 680. At the time my actual FICO scores were much lower, EX 650 and TU 660.
The CARS puts emphasis on the past 3 months from what I have noticed. I think you are good depending on the 5 card rule.

How can you say they should be good when you know nothing other than their Fico score?
If you have more than 4 new cards (think that is the magic number) in the past 24 months they will decline you regardless of the scores. Interesting policy but it appears to be pretty strictly followed.

Score-wise, they're obviously fine. That's all I've got to go on as all that's all the information that was shared.
I didn't say "you will be approved for this card" or "you'll have absolutely no problem."
There is the 5/24 rule to consider and Chase's internal score. But that FICO score alone is good enough if they're just wondering about the score required by the CSP's underwriting rules.
The OP implies they might not think their score is good enough. AAoA and overall credit history length are important as well. Give me more information, and I can tell you what I think. Until then, I state again "should be good" unless they have a very short credit history, low income, or more than 5 new revolving accounts in the past 24 months.
In all fairness OP didn't share all details. of their profile.. Finstar asked and got no answers ...
OP has a Chap7 2 1/2 years old that wasn't shared with any of you....This is why we ask for complete profile before making suggestion ....
OP then applied for CSP basing the decision to apply on this thread .....Auto denial
Currently in recon but doesn't look good IMHO
Chase, Citi and Amex are known not to be major baddie friendly ....rare cases some have luck RARE
