hello everyone, I'd love to hear what you guys think about my current situation
Based on MyFico
EX: 724 - 12 inquiries
EQ: 733 - 8 injuries
TU: 736 - 6 inquiries
I have so many inquiries due to
About me: I’m in pharmacy school with 2 years left before I graduate. Never paid late. Income 40k including work pay, scholarships, money from parents.
Chase Freedom:
current balance $0/$1800
Applied for a CLI back in August and was declined due to only recently starting to pay balance off in full at that time.
CapOne Quicksilver (recently just upgraded from platinum):
current balance: $0/$1500
Approved for this card in November 2015
Citi Best Buy
current balance: $375/$1500
Approved back in January to purchase a laptop for school.
I’m working to get to a CSP due to the travel rewards, but I was informed by Chase that I need a card with a 5k limit before I can even apply for the CSP. This is why I tried to get the CLI back in July of this year and was declined. Ever since then I’ve make sure to pay off the chase card in full each month and my score has shot up because of it. All 3 of my FICO scores were in the mid 600's when I applied for that CLI.
Now that my scores have gone up, should I try again to get the CLI for my freedom then apply for the CSP? Another option I was thinking was to try for the Amex BCE first. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think!
I applied for the CSP card earlier this month and got approved for it without ever having a card that had a $5K limit. It's my first CC from Chase. That's interesting that they would tell you that.
That's a lot of inquiries though. I hear Chase or AMEX don't like you to have too many on file.
Do you have any prequals?
Also, I'm surprised that you were able to get a Citibank Best Buy CC. They are unbelievably strict !!
That's very strange. This was a few months ago though so many ill give them a call and see what they say.
Yeah I got approved in store for the Best Buy card, used it to pay for my new laptop, then paid it down the next month.
No prequals for chase :\
Have you checked pre-approval on Chase site ? With your scores I would say go for it. The only thing that's concering is that Chase denied you recently for a CLI.
