Don't need anymore cards . Seems like capitol one and Barclaycard keeps giving me enough credit increases to keep me happy.
Only thing is my fingerhut account. Sitting at $1600 , no balance.
Should I keep it open ?
Congrats on deciding to clean up your cards. That can be a tough decision to make as a lot of people have the mindset of not closing any trade lines. Personally, I am not really a fan of store cards, especially having a lot of them. I have 1, Walmart, with a $6k cl. When it comes to Fingerhut, if you are not worried about your score for now and you do not use it at all, I would, but that is just me.
I would keep it open for another year or two. In 10 years, all of these cards falling off at once could temporarily ding your credit score pretty hard. Maybe stagger this one a little bit later so it's not a huge hit all at once. I definately thing you should close it if it's not useful to you though.
Only reason I suggest this is because, in 10 years, none of us know where we'll be in our lives...if we will have to get a loan at that exact moment that these fall off. Paranoia mostly by my part.
I'm not suprirsed WF never unsecured your card - I had that thing for two years and they wouldn't unsecure it. Never mind I've been banking with them since I was 18. I doubt I would be approved if I applied for a WF card outright.
Good for you for recognizing that you wouldn't use the cards. I SCT'd the J. Crew card before I realized the store here in town is women's only. Since I am neither a woman or a cross-dresser, the only way I can purchase is online, which I don't do for clothing. I'll probably close that card (and overstock.com) after a year. I'll keep Express and GameStop, since I actually shop there.
Amazon is going to find themselves on the chopping block soon if I don't get a CLI.
