when to apply for my next card

I have had a poor credit history.  identity theft when i was 14 that took me 10 years to get fully removed.  still credit score is only 640.  I have had a secured capital one card anda targett store card for a couple years. I have a joint costco amex with my wife that has a $10,000 limit.   last fall got a quicksilver with a $750 limit.  but recently was approved for a $4,000 chase freedom,   $1400 discover IT, and $1500 barclays rewards card.  I am hopeful to get a blue cash preferred for the grocery perks, after how many months of usage and paying off should I apply for this.   all cards are used monthly and paid off monthly.

Re: when to apply for my next card

Welcome to the forum ....so far you look good

Questions:

How many HP's last 12 months

EX and EQ scores (Fico)

When was your last HP?

Any baddies?

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

Re: when to apply for my next card

I have 6 hard pulls in the last 12 months. 3 this month.  I did the chase, discover and Barclays all at once and approved for all.

Both ex 38. Tu 641

i had two studen loans go to collection.  But I paid both off.  One will fall off 7/16 the other 1/17.

Thanks for for the warm welcome and the help !

In my honest view wait 4-5 months until scores especially EX and EQ hit about 670+ and then apply

Your scores from recent apps are just a little low currently

Re: when to apply for my next card

Is it worth trying for CLI on the cap1 and discover cards in a few months, since I believe these are SP's?

By all means try and good luck and yes both are SP's and Discover is only a HP if they send you to a 2nd screen and ask .....other than that both SP's for CLI's

You should do a search here for EE's. Your 7/16 one should be able to come off. I know for sure you will get it off with TU and if you do your homework here you could probably get the EX off now or next month. Some are even reporting all 3B's giving EE's that far out with the right supervisor and attitude from you.

Go get it and welcome to the boards...

Re: when to apply for my next card

I would agree with the advice to wait several months for your scores to go up, which they will. Also try and get those student loans removed as said above. Your score will rocket up once they are gone and you can get most cards.

Re: when to apply for my next card

I agree about waiting for those scores to go up. At this point its hard to say if you'll get approved. The Blue family of Amex cards are fairly tough to gain approval for. Wait for those EX scores to go up, get those baddies taken off, and go for it when the time is right! Good luck to you!

Re: when to apply for my next card

Thanks for the advice,   I called trans union today and you were right and i was able to get that removed.  Experian told me to try again next month,  she didnt say it was impossible,  i even tried to coherce her a bit after my success with transunion.  I have set a calendar reminder to call again next month.
