My wife decided to work on her credit profile and applied for three credit cards (as recommended by other posters on MyFico) and got approved for all three.
First - Discover It Secured ($200) Approved
Said she could add additional funds after the first statement cuts. Applied Thursday 9/27. Had to upload ID and SS card. Received approval Friday 9/28. Deposit taken out of account on today.
Second - USAA ($500) Unsecured Approved
Applied for rewards card and they countered with the platinum card instant approval.
Third - BOFA (99/500) Approved
Applied on Friday 9/27 and received 14 day review message. Called today 10/1 and spoke to a Sr analyst number I found on MyFico. Asked if they needed anything to help them make a decision. Analyst looked over app and said the app was approved and they did not need anything. Wife has had a BOFA checking account over 20 years (maybe this helped). Received an email directly afterwards that said the app was approved.
627 Equifax before apps. Don't know the EX or TU score as they both said she had to send them ID info. EX said no report available ??? when we tried to order a report online.
Very grateful and no more CC apps. This is enough to get started in the right direction if managed well.
