Maybe this happens often but I thought I'd share in the case that it doesn't.
On 6/12 when logging in to my Amex cc account I saw an off for the gold card but unlike the 10 other times, I decided to click it and see what the offer was. Turned out they were offering 60k MR points and having always wanting to have a charge card I went through with the app thinking it would let me know first if I qualified then accept the offer. Instead, it went into review, and me knowing all my credit files were locked I just assumed it would send me the usual deny letter in a weeks time. Well, that is not what happened, two days later they sent me an approval email and two days after that I had the card in hand. I was pleasantly surprised. I've checked my reports to date with no inquires reporting so far. Maybe it just takes time but usually, I get the alert right away.
I will add that I have an AMEX blue cash, every day and a blue business card with decent limits so maybe it was just an account review.
