There are advantages to both. Citi gives you a higher HHonors status for the life of your card. Amex has 500 point online booking bonus and reduced point deals for booking 4 days using less points. Annual fee is lower on HHSurpass (Amex) than on Citi.Point earning is different, with Citi beiNg a bit higher.
Bottom line is that they are both good cards, and IIf Citi liked me better I would think about also having the Citi card.
