This is a messy story. I heard the rumours that the Platinum card was going up to $695/year so I wanted to lock the $550 AF with the 100k + 10x in groceries sign up bonus and then I got the dreaded pop-up. After talking to a rep, they told me I could still get the card with a 75k MR point bonus, I declined...
Fast forward to midgnight tonight (Jul 1) and I'm browsing the website to see if the whole thing about new benefits was true. Well it was, and I was offered a 100k MR point signup bonus plus 10X on Restaurants and Shop small for six months on $6k of spend in six months. All this with a $550 AF. I applied without flinching. No Pop-Up this time (I was logged in already so the offer was catered to me).
I got approved for the platinum with a $15,000 pay over time limit and I'm confirming that my cardmember agreement says that my annual fee is $550. My only two AMEX cards are the Blue Every Day Preferred ($2k limit) and the AMEX Green Card (Only a $1k pay over time limit), which I opened about a year ago. My overall credit limit among all my cards is $25k and my Experian is around 730 give or take. So all and all I think this was a pretty successful approval.
Shame this is not a credit card and that $15k limit won't get reported to credit bureaus, it would've pumped my credit limit by a whopping 60% in one sitting... Alas!
