Congrats on a sweet approval though. I would have fought for that kind of approval too!
I did. I actually signed up for the $5 contribution on the membership app. I don't think that's why they originally declined it. I think they are now trying to crack down on potential fraud by people opening up membership from outside their geographical area. Who knows. I did read posts elsewhere of people complaining about being turned down for no apparent reason.
Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and write this one off as a potential app. I don't like it when CUs offer a specific way to get in and then try to enforce their geofence despite their website suggesting otherwise.

Yeah I get what you're saying. FYI they add the $5 association membership fee to the cu membership opening transaction - so qualifying for membership was certainly not why they originally declined it.
Congratulations on your approval!
Congrats on your approval. I have been a member of Affinity for last 18 years and they always came through for me. I had 3 car loans, business loan, personal credit card. Not a bad institution to deal with.

So I gotta say I've found their member service to be a bit off. Maybe it's Covid, but I've dealt with three other cus during this time. For example I sent in the paperwork to add an authorized user a week ago. As of Thursday it had not been processed or sent out yet. But the thing I've disliked most is their lack of follow up and communication.
How has your experience compared?
oh one more thing - when I called to recon/appeal the membership denial, they told me a manager would call me right back. She never did - I just got a welcome email with my member number etc. I then got the approval for the cc. But that's the type of thing I'm not crazy about. At least reach out and follow up with the members. They seem to lack that personal touch.
