I’ve been interested in an Amazon card for a while and was deciding between Synchrony and Chase, until I learned about a third option while looking for a good savings account. Affinity Federal Credit Union (based in NJ) has a Cash Rewards Visa, which earns 5% at bookstores AND Amazon, as well as newly added 5% rotating categories. This immediately caught my attention, and after mulling it over for a while, I decided to join AFCU.
This past Saturday, I finally decided to go for it and applied for the card. All I got was a status screen that said it was approved, and that someone would be in touch within 24-48 business hours. I also got an inquiry alert from Experian. Today, I finally got an email saying I was approved for $12,300! This is my highest starting limit to date, and now my second highest credit limit. I don’t think I would have gotten this from either Synch or Chase, so I am very happy.
Application stats below (I got an AMEX BCP 3 weeks ago, but it was a SP approval and hasn’t reported yet, so I’m not including that information):

- EX Inquiries: 8 (mostly auto, 0 scoreable)

- # Accounts: 0/12*, 5/24*
- Utilization: 2% (3 cards reporting 4% or less)
