For a few weeks now American Express has been hitting me up with Gold pre-approved offers with 90K MR points after $4,000 spend in 6 months. Originally, I was holding off for Platinum, but that doesn’t seem right for me anymore. Since I can actually use the $120 dining and the $120 Uber/Eats credits, I took them up on it. Approved Friday night, card (original gold, not rose gold) arrived this morning. I defaulted on a Gold far more than 7 years ago, did NOT receive a pop-up, and a customer service rep confirmed that I am eligible for the welcome offer. Can hit the minimum spend organically, so that seems like a good deal.
I think I’m done for awhile, at least for a year or so. As I said, the Platinum doesn’t seem like a fit anymore. I was originally looking at the World of Hyatt, but Hyatt made some changes (and price/points/level hikes) at a couple of their properties, so my HH will do just fine…or may upgrade to Aspire someday. Maybe will keep an eye on Chase Sapphire Preferred, or maybe not. No need to overdo it!
