I think the Amex version is significantly better. It has a bigger signup bonus, balances don't report on your personal credit report, and most important of all it has Amex's legendary return and extended warranty protection. Even after Amex's recent revisions, this card still retains those protections. I would even put non-Amazon electronic purchases on this card just because of the protection.
