Amex 61 day 3X CLI? Not for me

Today was 181 days since my last CLI. Was at $4100, and requested 12k which is still less than 3X. Got countered with $800 increase to $4900. Thanks AMEX.

You could not get the $16K anyway, $4100x3 would be meax you can ask for, which would cap it at $12300. So you do not ask for an additional 3x. Your total limit can go up to 3x of your current limit, which in your case, if granted, would be $12,300.

The 16k in my post was a typo (fixed)

Point was that even If I asked for 500k, they would have countered with $4900. I'm closing it tonight anyway.

how long have you had your card? IS there a specific reason they give you for not giving the higher cli?
