Finally saw my first ever prequal with Amex yesterday after a long period of second level rebuild after some setbacks a few years ago. Instant approved for the Gold Card with 50k SUB after getting the fiance to generate a referral link ($75 credit to her). Knowing that multiple apps on same day with Amex won't generate a second inquiry on the same date I smashed the please button again, this time for a revolver and was approved for the BCE after a counter offer of just $500 and no SUB. That kind of sucks, but after my setback three years ago and having a couple of derogs remaining on my report, including a CH7 from 2012 still lingering a few more years I am just pleased to be in with them at all, especially instant approvals at ~670 EX Fico. Did not get the "credit steps" e-mail from them for the BCE but I know how rewarding patience can be with Amex so I'll take the approvals and play the long game. Future apps/card upgrades/etc should be simple and rewarding so long as I take care of them, they'll take care of me.
