Amex Blue Cash Preferred Approval

All,

Long time lurker, first time in several years poster.  After getting a charge-off removed from my Experian report (long story that involved a credit union not accepting electronic funds transfer on its credit card from any accounts but its own, me moving from Seattle to New York, my bank's "online bill pay option being a particular flavor of inept that involved not sending my BECU card payments but CONTINUING to send rent payments on a closed checking account (which was not fantastic at all), and my having no eyesight at all--as in, completely blind--and thus not being able to write paper checks), I suddenly went from an on again, off again preapproval for the Delta SkyMiles cards to a prequal for the Platinum, Gold and BCP.  In case it wasn't blindingly obvious from the subject line, I chose the third option.  Credit line of $1,000 (not exactly stellar, but fine as I intend to make payments essentially as charges post).  This is of particular interest to me as I've recently gotten a job as a software engineer at Resy (which American Express sort of snagged not so long ago), and I'd hat for my only Amex cards to be the corporate Green Card they're sending me and an Amex Serve.

For reference, bureau pulled was Experian (as per custom), score at time of pull was 681, income is $210K, AAOA 8 years, 2 inquiries, 28% utilization.  The simulator on Experian's website gave me a target score of 696 when that utilization drops to zero in a day or thre, but not sure that would have made a heap of difference in the approval process.

For those that have been here (or at a similar location) before, is there a minimum that I should wait to pull the trigger on the gold card?  I'd like to meet the $3,000 minimum spend for the welcome offer first, and, right now, the travel benefits on the Platinum card aren't super useful (although GDA is tempting).

Re: Amex Blue Cash Preferred Approval

Congrats on the approval!  Althought I don't have an AMEX, I would say show them some spend and PIF and then shoot for another card and CLI after 90/91 days.  The gates may be wide open for you after that.
