Congrats! I don't think 450 a month is that bad. We are a family of 3 (more like 2 1/2) and we spend around 700 a month.

You can definitely rack in some good rewards with the BCP. I live right by a mom and pop store that sells groceries, and is also a gas station. So if I pay inside instead of at the pump, I get 6% cash back on gas!

Yes, but you have to find out if the place you're going to is like a small grocery store. Or buy something, and see how they tag the transaction in the AMEX app or when you login. If they tag your inside purchase as groceries, you should be good to go!
