Good luck w/ CLI.
Thanks so much!

Call in and ask if you qualify for a higher SL once you get the card. Doesn't hurt.
Thanks!
Unfortunately Amex doesn't work like that... since I tried for a CLI today on my BCP (and was denied) I'll have to wait three months before asking for a CLI on either card.
That's OK... I've learned to be quite patient with them.
Congrats on your new Amex!

Thanks so much, my friend!
I admit that it does feel a bit 'odd', after having blemishes for so long (16 years total) to finally have clean reports is not bad at all!
@UncleB wrote:Many of you know my BCP only has a credit line of $1k and Amex has repeatedly denied my requests for a CLI (the latest decline was just today). The decline is always due to "... previous negative experience with an American Express card". They are referring to an account included in bankruptcy back in 2000 - over 16 years ago.
Clearly there's no way to "work on my profile" (or any of the other boilerplate pointers that usually apply) so a while back I decided I would go apply for another revolver with them, with the plan to after 13 months transfer the credit line. I also closed my Green card last month, so lessen my overall exposure with them thinking it might help. Also, my BCP (and Green) were both approved with two baddies and a 695 EX score; as of this month I have no baddies and my EX is 751 (this is after the new inquiries from last week).
With shiny new credit scores in hand (recently completely baddie-free) I submitted my Delta app, and after a brief delay was rewarded with an approval for yet another $1k credit line.
Honestly I've got mixed feelings on this... the reason I chose the Delta to is that historically the approval amounts are higher than other cards, which would suit my desired end result. It's certainly better than a denial, though, and when the card is 13 months old I'll transfer however much they allow and simply close the card afterward. Also, while my BCP has been 'stunted' it's possible I'll have better luck with CLIs on the Delta Gold card - if so the new addition might pay off yet. <fingers crossed>
I'm the first to admit that not all lenders are for everybody; especially when they have been 'burned' in the past. It's clear that Amex falls into that category for me, at least when it comes to a relationship beyond what we currently have.
Next stop... the garden!
(Note: I'm thinking about not even adding this one to my signature... LOL)
Congrats on your approval ! I know what you mean on that $1K credit line (they won't increase mine) & the only time my BCE sees any action is when an AMEX offer is being used. I don't get AMEX at all, but realize that I play hard ball too...not to mention they keep trying to encourage me to "upgrade" from BCE ---> BCP......They wish I would pay them an annual fee !!!!!
FWIW - It ain't over until the fat lady sings....
congrats on the PRG and Delta gold! hopefully you got decent offers on both despite the DG limit. Mine aint that much better either. Maybe if you ran the majority of your spend between the PRG and Delta for a while and beyond bonus, you could request CLI on the DG instead of the BC
I am wondering when the date of their last report was, maybe they dont see your newly clean files, when was the last time u did a 3x cli

We think alike...
While my BCP has my smallest credit line, it's also one of my busiest cards rewards-wise (grocery purchases). I'll give them an AF since the rewards more than cover it, but they'll never see a penny in interest! Like I've mentioned before, "I make 'em pay!"

Thanks, jfriend!
I'm thinking you might be right... the FICO provided by Amex didn't update until after my applications, and the date given is 5/23, not 5/2 or 5/5 as I would usually expect.
I knew this was a chance, but I also had no way of knowing how long it would be before they did another SP (assuming they hadn't already, and were simply not updating the online FICO score). Another indicator is that I did a CLI request yesterday for the BCP as well... denied like all the rest.
All's not lost, though... I did get the PRG with all the perks, and now that my EX is updated it should be in good shape (not that it wouldn't have been before, but just 'sayin), and the Delta was a 'donor' card anyway. Hopefully it won't be 'stunted' like the BCP, but even if it is in 13 months I'll transfer whatever they'll allow to the BCP and simply close it. And if I do happen to need to fly anywhere I'll have 30k SkyMiles (after meeting spend).
I'll be the first to admit it clearly could have turned out better, but I guess it could have been worse as well (i.e. denial)... considering where I was just a couple of years ago I'm OK with it... LOL
