Amex platinum approval odds

Hey all,

New to board. I am really interested in applying for the AmEx platinum and was hoping if y'all could give me a little feedback.

Back story:

Eq: 615 Tu: 624 Eq: 596 (I know scores are low)

Have a DSNB Amex in Charge-Off (08/2011) shows as "Amex/Dsnb" on report

Also have 3 other CO's with most recent in 2012.

Util: 30%

Would Amex hold it against me due to that card?

Re: Amex platinum approval odds

Yes they most likely will turn you away, I have heard they are not friendly towards derogs on accounts, and I think you will have better luck when your scores are over 700.

Thanks for the input!

I shouldn't have an issue of being "blacklisted" due to the Amex DSNB card?

Re: Amex platinum approval odds

That sounds like it's just on the payment network, not a Centurion Banki-issued AmEx. If so, then no, they won't have a record of it beyond your credit report, and will treat it like any other charge off.

I would expect you need at least a 650 for a good chance at an AmEx charge.

Not sure about that DSNB (Macys?) card. I know that particular card is not issued by Amex, so I don't think you will be blacklisted, but your scores are too low for Amex right now imo. Really need to be in mid to upper 600s to have a shot at getting in with the charge accounts. That platinum card is a nice card to have for travel purposes, keep in mind though if you do apply down the road and get approved, the $450 AF gets charged right away. Good luck!

I was recently denied an AMEX Platinum with a 653 EX and a couple of derogs. I have the AMEX PRG and Delta Platinum.

I appreciate all the feedback, thanks!

Do you remember what your scores were when you app'd Delta and PRG?

Re: Amex platinum approval odds

Around the same 650-653 score. Both approved in March with at least 20 inquiries, 1 collection, an unpaid tax lien, and a paid judgement reporting on EX.
