Amx approval but question on age of account

I had an AMEX in the early 1990's but had some bad events about 5 years later. I just recently got an approval for a new account and when I went to confirm my card it stated "valued customer since 1993"

 So wil this show up on my credit as a 24 year old account, which will benefit my aaoa or is that internal only?

They used actually count all those back dated years but not anymore. When it reports your new approval date is used.

Amex doesn't backdate anymore. It will say member since 1993, but you don't get the history. It will show up on your report as a brand new account.

It's funny because we had a similar situation years ago, when we returned to AMEX my card showed member since 2015 and my wife who is a AU shows since 1996. As stated above that date doesn't impact the AAOA though.  I tell her it just shows how old she really is:-)
