Background - Very thin file, one old closed WF with a $13K CL, due to drop off in 2022. Only had one active card, 11 month old Discover it with a $2,200 (just luvved to $2,700 a couple days ago). Once cleaned up of baddies, high scores.
I decided to pull the trigger on a Chase Freedom Unlimited online. I hit the button…..closed both eyes….prayed….squeaked a peek with one eye….and BINGO! Instant approval for $8,900! Holy cow.
I plan on two more cards (Citi Double Cash and AMEX BCE). Should I wait for the new card (and limit) to post before apping for another card? Like 60 days? Would that be likely to get me a higher limit on the cards to follow?
I plan on AZEO, of course.
Congratulations 🍾🎈🎊🎉!!

That would be your call really. Your CR scores are more than adequate to get the prime cards.
Waiting for the new card to report with that limit may help you get a higher limit on your next card, but, if it was me I would go for one more now, before the new account reports, probably the BCE knowing that Amex is a SP on future CLI's. Then go for the DC in a couple of months when things have settled down a bit.
+1. I would go with this. Since you don't have an AmEx already, most likely will be an EX pull. I would take the jump for that and then give it 3-6 months before going for the Citi DC card.
Thanks, guys!
I apped for the AMEX BCE this morning - approved with a limit of $6,000! My poor Experian score is taking a beating, LOL, down to 778. But, now I have three decent cards to AZEO garden with. I'm going for a DCU Savings Secured Loan next, maybe after taxes. I'll take your advice and hold off on the Citi DC until later this year.
This forum is the BEST. I don't know of any other place where people are so invested in seeing other people succeed. You guys are all heroes.
Congrats on the new credit, and mixing up you're file a bit! Lenders love to see this.
IMO, and again my OPINION. I would apply for more cards before it posts to you're credit report. I would go for one more.
My reasoning is that this will open on you're credit file in a few weeks, and newer accounts will typically drag you're length of credit down. Commonly refered to as the AGE.
Excellent!! Congrats on your approvals.....!!

Congrats on the app, glad it all worked out for you and welcome to the Amex family.

Ack. Decisions, decisions.
So, three and garden, or four? Citi will double pull EQ and EX, right? I'm in California.
If I do the SSL, that will be a hard pull from DCU. I talked to one of their reps a few days ago. Would Citi would likely ignore this, or frown on it? I've heard in the rebuild forum that Citi can decline over too many new accounts. Would that be the inquiries or the cards showing up?
Sorry I'm such a nervous nellie about this. I want these cards to age more or less together, but want to minimize damage to my scores.
Congrats OP on the approval and nice SL.
I like the peeking through your fingers bit. Epic!
