UPDATE: 

13 days later, Goldman still has not come back looking to do the HP on me after getting denied on the 9th due to my locked TU report. Have been using the Apple Card nearly every day with no problems.

 

Additionally, my wife applied for the Apple Card on 17th, did the same thing (unlocked TU for the SP, then locked TU before the HP was processed) with same success ($15k @ 12.99% APR).
