I don't get it, I've been reading how everyone is getting approved with this 3x CLI with Amex so I said why not...I've had my Amex Delta since April...req to from $5000 to $20000...gave me the 7-10 message...then I tried 15k got the same...I wonder if its because of my recent accounts...Penfed, Chase Sapphire, and Amex BCE all last week...oh and CLI with BofA from $500 to 10k. Scores are still in the 740+ for Fico's and 730+ fakos...any takers?

How have you been using your card? First month I would charge about 1k and PIF and repeat for total of 2k. Second month I charged 1.8k and PIF. Right before I did request I had about 500 on it that I paid in full and requested increase with zero balance.

Just called Amex, they said that since they are using 2 week old data from Experian (hence the Soft Pull) as a result of their normal customer credit tracking, I was not able to be approved for the CLI. Makes sense because 2 weeks ago my utilization was around 30-40% whereas it is 6% now. I made some big payments to payoff balances recently. I found out my limit for the Amex BCE I got this week though, $9700....not too shabby!

I don't have a ton of experience with Amex CLIs aside from what I've been reading the past couple of weeks, but I wanted to point out that 20k is 4x 5k (not 3x).  So that may have something to do with it.  Also, I think I've seen people on here get the 7-10 day message and still get approved for the CLI or at least a nice counter offer.

Maybe you ask for 4x from 5k to20k. It's not their rule. 

Play the rule then you should get some.
