Approved for CSP although way past 5/24

So being familiar with Chase 5/24, I dont understand this. Though I am happy!!!!

So I was looking at my online chase portal for my Chase Freedom card and I saw a option for pre approvals. It was for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and I decided to apply, got a wait for 5-10 days for approval.

And today I log into my chase app and I see the new Chase Sapphire Preferred with a 5K credit limit.

Now Im at 13/24 card, I only have a AAOA of about 1yr.
Also I did recently get a car loan from Chase, so maybe that can be it?

Congrats!!!  Yes, I definitely think it's teh Car Loan you have with them.

I'm Chase 5/24 and have been told so on many RECONS in as many words.

This is great to hear, I'm trying to get the CSP or CSR but am currently sitting at 7/24. Looks like I should go establish a relationship of somekind with them and take advantage of the preapprovals. I tried going in branch, but they didn't have anything for me as I'm not a current customer.

That's interesting.  My friend is a Chase Banker and he said that he has only had one person approved in branch that was over the 5/24 rule.  He said she had an 800+ score and great income, and was a approved for a huge line on the CSR. 

I called the number on the back of my card and asked about 5/24.  The operator said that 5/24 is not the official position of Chase.  Each card is issued on a case-by-case basis.  I know it was on a disclamer for the CSR at one time but Chase removed it.  I wonder if they are softening on the stance?

As long as you are pre approved. You'll get it most of the time. It's when you're not pre approved and over 5/24 then you will most likely be rejected

Im still shocked, especially because I have been declined twice for CSP within the last 24 months due to 5/24.

It could be the car loan indeed thats the only thing that has changed since the last denial, car loan is only 2-3 months old.

Does this card still come in metal card?

And to actually correct myself. Looking at my Credit Report im 17/24 forgot about the cards I cancelled.

No more apping for me.

I have a feeling that Chase still has the 5/24 in place but will select certain customers and offer them cards even though they're past 5/24 based on relationship..
