After a few months of gardening and BB&T stepping up their card game, I went in to the local branch and apped for the BB&T Spectrum Cash Rewards credit card. The rewards structure was very appealing, 3% cash back on gas, 2% on utilities and groceries and 1% on all other purchases. Plus, if you redeem your cash back and have it deposited into your BB&T checking account, you get an additional 10%... So $100.00 cash back turns into $110. Was not an instant approval but a "5-7 business days". My banker said especially with BB&T that's not a definite no and they will look past inquiries and some negative information if you have a relationship with them. I have the BB&T Bright CC, Elite@Work checking, money rate savings and eSavings. Two days later, I got an email approved for $4,500. BT offer 0% for 12 months I believe.
