Hi Ya'll,
So I recieved a BBVA Credit Card Pre-Approval and applied. I think I have read every post on this company and how everyone feels about them. Cleary its a hit and miss situation with them. Just wanted to share my experience.
I live in Va and the application online was seamless. As with Uncle B, it asked me for my drivers license number which was a first, but after that it was an instant approval for 10K. It lead me to setup the Mobile App which went through without a hitch. I went on the website and added my bank account from my local credit union and they said they would send test deposits to it. In 3 days the deposits were made and withdrawn and I recieved an email from them within 3 days advising all had gone smooth and my external account was setup.
I applied online on Wed 1-16-19 at about 10am. Yesterday I recieved both letters in mail saying welcome and telling my me Experian Fico 9 was 701, my Faco score was 753. My actual Experian Fico 8 score was 643. Ther letter stated I should activate my card but I have not gotten it yet so I was a little concerned that maybe something was amiss.
This morning at about 5am I recieved an email from the Online Checking Dept saying that I needed to go online and verify the amounts, but the link they sent didnt work. I emailed them asking to advise on how to proceed at 7am and at 9:30 am I recieved a reply stating it was an error and all was ok and I didnt need to verify those charges as they have gone through fine. I then sent another email to them asking if that meant that I could pay my bill from the online app with my credit union account and recieved a response in 1 hour advsing all was good to go.
When I got home at 6:15 pm EST I decided to call them, to discuss my account and verify the reason the card had not arrived yet. ( Monday was a Hoilday). I spoke with a CSR. He advised the card comes a day or two after those letters arrive in a blank envelope for security purposes. He also talked to me for about 30 minutes about my account, how to make payments, payments post on the day you pay but may take 2-3 days for them to actually go through but they consider the day you pay as the day of payment. He was very polite and informative.
I have not used the card yet, but have been totally satisfied with their service, their response time, and also their attitude thus far.
That being saod, for them to give me 10K SL and 16.9 APR after the 13 months....i am quite pleased. Hope these data points help someone.
Congratulations! I haven’t even gotten my card yet. Hopefully the experience will be smooth! The driver’s license thing was a first for me too, but the app was easy overall.
That is awesome! Congratulations! I'm also in VA but notta.
Hi Pink!
Heres to our new card! I went online over the weekend and watgched alot of YouTuve Videos about this company, how they started, growth, expansion etc. I have had bad experiences with other banks as well. I just ask they fix them. I work for one of the leaders in insurance for the past 30 years and I know we make mistakes as well. Hoping they do right by us all.
Hey Brandon,
From what I read, they placed their East Coast Loan Branch in Baltimore. It says they are doing business down to Richmond at this time. Not sure if they are following the coast and not going West, but I am in Charlottesville and I got the offer if that helps.
Good Luck!!!
Congrats on the card!
I have been quite happy with it, no complaints so far. Waiting to see when it reports - I was told it shouldn’t report til March but I’m preparing for a February possibility (I got it in December).
The website crashed on me when the application was submitted and wouldn’t let me make my account but when I got the card, I just did everything through the mobile app.
I love that they added the rewards to the app so you can set your categories too.
Honestly I will probably add a second ClearPoints when the prequal for new cards shows up in the app. I’m assuming that will happen around June. Having a card for 3% utilities and a second for 3% groceries would be a complete wallet for me.

Hi Saeran,
Thanks For the feedback! That’s good news if no issues so far. Curious.. did your card have the Platnium label on it as Uncle B mentioned?
Yes it does.
