BF approved for Barclay

Just got the approval for the rewards mastercard for the BF for $1,000. Used the pre-approval link and got the congrats. We are working on boosting his own credit portfolio as his CS has hardly budged in a year. So this is where we are at:

NFCU flagship $8500

NFCU LOC $10k

applied for Lowes last night 7-10 day

Barclaycard MC $1,000

essentially between the cards I have we are looking at ones that would benefit "our" combined portfolio as we are/will be AU on each others card. Thus the Lowes app. My other question would be the Sallie Mae Card.. Should we app that now with this approval for the rewards mc?

NFCU Flagship $17,500, Chase Slate $7,500, Citibank Simplicity $2,400, Capitol One QS $3,750, Walmart $3,000, Old Navy Store Card $3,000, Amazon Store Card $2,000, Target Red Card $1,000, Victoria Secret $1,070, Red Canoe Credit Union (my personal CCU) $2,000

Grats on the card Smiley Happy  I think I would have apped for the SM over the rewards card, dont think Barclays will issue 2 cards back to back.

Barclays loves me. They just gave me a Sallie Mae Mastercard with a $10,000 limit. Yet, they denied me for a Upromise.com card because of "Too many new accounts opened". This in spite of weekly email offers to apply for the Upromise.com card with 3X-4X larger than normal signup bonuses.

In denying me the Upromise.com card, they pulled a credit report from Equifax, and told me I was denied with my highest ever credit score: 749.

So, I'd say No, don't apply for another Barclay card for at least 3-4 months. And if you are concerned about a high starting limit, make that 6 months.
