I called BOA and they said my account has been converted to a non secured card and my $500 deposit will be mailed back to me. WOW!!! over 29k in available credit in January. In the Garden till July no more apps. Lock me in the garden and throw away the key.
Congrats! Like you, I started my recent credit journey with two secured cards(the same two banks-BoA and WF), except I decided to take a different route.. With each passing app, I was getting higher and higher initial CL's. After a few CLI's here and ther and a few non-essential card closings- I had all 1k+ cards except the two secured cards which now seemed out of place. I decided to go against conventional wisdom by apping for unsecured cards by WF and BoA. Wells Fargo quickly approved me for a $4500 card while Bank of America declined me. I was surprised by that thinking it would be the other way around since I had had a relationship with Bank of America dating back to their two previous names... NationsBank and NCNB. So I am in the process of closing both secured cards. So you might want to consider apping for an unsecured Wells Fargo card because WF is less reliable in graduating cards and because they are likely to only up your CL slightly. Not saying that's what you should do, because we're all different, but giving something to think about.
