CH13 was discharged in March 2021. Both Amex and Discover were IIB and my CH13 was not 100% payback (I wish it had been).
Thought the odds of getting back in with Amex or Discover anytime soon, especially Amex, were rather long.
On Tuesday I checked the Discover pre-qual for the first time in about a month. It listed all of their cards for the first time. Selected the Discover It and was approved for $9500.
I had no intention of applying for an Amex. I had actually tried back in September and received the usual burn notice: "You accounts with American Express were previously cancelled" i.e. GO AWAY.
Oddly enough, I received an alert earlier today stating that my credit score went up on Credit Karma. I checked and my TU has risen by a whole point. That's when I noticed something I'd never previously seen under card offers. Amex Gold was listed with "outstanding" approval odds.
Travel is my one area of deficiency after a solid rebuild. All I have for travel is the Penfed Pathfinder. I figured if I had any chance of getting the Amex Gold I could get the Amex Plat.
Applied for Amex Plat and was approved (I travel frequently for work and need lounge access as does my spouse). I have services and needs that will use the various statement credits that Plat offers in excess of the AF.
Maybe one day I'll be able to get back in with Chase as well.
