Barclay Rewards CLI & Spend Offer

Getting through to a credit analyst at Barclaycard can be a bit of a challenge, but when you do, you often get good news.   I called in to determine if my CashForward had any offers to lower the APR.  There were no offers, so I asked if I had any offers on the Rewards.  They advised that i had an SP CLI offer of $3,500, which took my from $6500 to $10K!   I also was advised that I had a spend offer on the Rewards; if I spent $1K in 90 days, I'd get $50.   I gladly accepted both offers.

My future plan is to eventually fold the CashForward CL into the Rewards.  So for now, I'm definitely pleased.

Congrats on the increase specially it being a SP. Do you use your rewards card more than the CashForward?

I did, since it had a spend offer before and a 0% APR until September.   I intend on using it again for gen spend, as well as gas & groceries, so I can meet the $1K spend

Re: Barclay Rewards CLI & Spend Offer

Congrats on the SP CLI & Spend bous offer. I'm surprised, I've all but given up on my Rewards MC, since it's been closed to new apps since last year I didn't think Barclays would give any CLIs on it, in fact I've been expecting a "We've converted your Rewards MC to a . . ." letter anytime. I just might call in & see if I have any offers, I haven't received a CLI in years.

YMMV, but any purchase I make at Family Dollar (my small town general store) and my nearest Walmart always get coded as groceries for 2% rewards on my Rewards MC. I haven't used my Rewards card for anything but 2% categories in years - utilities and Family Dollar & Walmart, as my Amex BCE w/3% on groceries doesn't code those as groceries, just 1% Other.

EDIT: I called into the Credit Analyst #, not much success. I first asked if Barclays had any plans to phase out the Rewards card & the rep said No, but I take that with a grain of salt. Then I asked for an APR reduction, mine has a horrendous 23.99% APR, and got transferred to Retention. Got a reduction to 19.99%, and had to suppress a laugh and said "Oh that would be helpful" instead, like I'd ever carry a balance at 20% interest. Then I asked if there were any other offers, yes -  BT at 6.99% until March. Um no thanks. Then I asked for a CLI and rep asked if she had my permission to pull my CR - No, I don't take HPs just for a CLI. Then she offered to move some of my Cashforward $13.2k CL to Rewards. Not at this time, I got it last August and it has 0% intro promo until Sept. and currently has a $3500 balance, 26.5% util. I'll pay that off next month & then move some of the CL to Rewards, as I plan to sock drawer Cashforward, 1.5% rewards with a ridiculous $50 requirement to redeem rewards doesn't cut it.
