I was looking up my latest APR for my Barclays Arrival Plus card in my Barclay app account settings. It was also coincidentally my statement close date. Noticed my credit line was now $7100 instead of $3500. I didn't request for a CLI, nor did I get an email or notification about this. I've had the card since Mar 2019, had maxed it consistently at 80-95% throughout 2020/2021. Paid it off in full this past June '22, and let it report $0 the last statement. When my statement closed yesterday, I was unable to retrieve my statement -- I guess because they were processing it to close, yet it already showed me I had a CL of $7100, although it did not yet reflect on my account balance of credit available. (Side note: I called to look into it and the fine CSR's from overseas thought I was asking to request a CLI and asked me if they had my permission to HP.... NO! and ended that call). Today it fully reflected on my credit available.
Have heard of Barclays being stingy on CLI especially auto CLIs, and have been reported to claw back with CLDs so I'm not expecting to stay at $7100, and depends on my swipes. But it was nice to get an extra $3600! DP's in my siggy. All 3 CRAs frozen. 3 TU lates 2016.
***UPDATE***
Barclays did another auto CLI on my oldest card Barclays View (formerly Barclays Apple Rewards) which has been at SL $500 for more than a decade. They increased it to a CL of $1500! Definitely did not expect that at all but I'll take it!
Your so right about the claw backs portion they are/were famous for, but let's hope this one keeps.
Congratulations on the Barclays nice auto increase!!
Congrats on the Auto CLI! Always a nice surprise. I believe you're right about Barclay usually being stingy with CLI's

This is pretty unusual for Barclays. So maybe there's a change in policy. Or maybe they just love you.
Just bear in mind that they once posted an article on their blog for the Barclays Ring card indicating that the optimum customer, from a CLI/CLD standpoint, is one that has good usage (as a 'proxy for profitability') but not too much usage (as a 'proxy for financial distress'). They even published a graph, but omitted the actual numbers. My guess was that they were saying that if you use from 10% to 25% of your credit limit, you would be in the sweet spot for getting CLI's and for not getting CLD's. I.e. use the card, but don't go anywhere near maxing it.
WooHoo!! Congratulations on your Barclays CLI Approval!!👏🏼🍾🥂
Congratulations on your Barclays auto-CLI!
