How did you get yours down to 10.99 in the first place ? Were you calling in to see what offers there were for you?

8.99 is incredibly low.

PS To other posters.. I wouldn't call this a trick, as the CA said feel free to call back every 4 months or so to see what
unpublished offeres there were for me ("we don't always mail those out)" 4 months.. not  6.

If I could get my daily SM down to 8.99 in Jan it would be a trophy

What are some other offers ppl are getting from Barclays SM?

Have anyone ever gotten a purchase promo period?

Congrats !! Thanks for the info . I opened a SM card couple of months back with 13.99% APR . I thought they will not go below that . Seeing many people have reduced the APR's below this rate , i will call them  once my card ages to 5 months .

please let us know how it goes

Nice job everyone in getting your Barclay cards APR down into Ring APR territory.

Re: Barclays Sallie Mae dropped my APR from 13.99 to 9.99

After reading this post, I called up Barclay's backdoor number and requested a lower APR and a SP CLI. Got a 1% reduction and a $1000 CLI on my 6 month old SM. Thanks for posting, OP!

I mentioned in another thread but I have only had them for about 5 months but call the backdoor listed here and
asked if I could get my rate lowered. 13.99 is their lowest advertised rate for the SM card but I saw
someone got it lowered to 12.99 so I though what the heck.

After 3 tranfers that lady checked what offers there were and to my SURPRISE there was an offer to drop my APR down
4 point! and another for a SP CLI from 6k (org CL) to  8500.

I took them both and she said call back in 4 months (not 6..) to see what other offers there might be.

Spread the word

*Edit* a few ppl asked me which # I called and when.

Barclays: 866-205-5973 (credit analyst 24 hours)

I called around 12:34 noon EST and got transferred 3 times.

Thanks for spreading the word, smarzig! Thanks to you, I was able to call Barclays this morning and get my APR lowered from 13.99% to 9.99% also! That's a big deal and that's now my lowest APR (previously it was 11.24 with Discover).

I also got transferred three times and had to repeat the &^%$# security procedures with each transfer, but once I finally got to the specialist, it was a matter of less than a minute. The number I used was 866-585-2951, which was the number an online secure message gave me. Seems to be a specialised line for Sallie Mae.

Re: Barclays Sallie Mae dropped my APR from 13.99 to 9.99

Sallie Mae Platinum. Last increase was auto CLI of $2000 on 5/15.

Tonight: APR reduced 4 points 16.99 -> 12.99

SP CLI $1500: $3600 -> $5100

Sallie Mae World. No previous changes. 17 months old, very little usage.

Tonight: APR reduced 4 points 13.99 -> 9.99

SP CLI $4000: $10000 -> $14000

Arrival+. No previous changes. only 3.5 months old, applied on 6/12

Tonight: SP CLI $2000: $5000 -> $7000

Priceline. Last increase 1pt reduction in APR + SP CLI $1500: $2800 -> $4300 on 6/12.

Tonight: no offers.

Total credit limits on 4 Barclay cards: $22900 + $7500 -> $30400

Thats a new max credit limit for me per creditor. I have $30000 with American Express and NASA FCU, 1 card each.

Note: I did ask for both APR and SP CLI on all cards on 6/12, but only got something on the Priceline, which was the first and only thing I've ever gotten on the Priceline. Priceline is my oldest Barclay card at 28 months old now, and is usually my primary card since i get 2.2% cash back on all purchases (NLA). So this is 3.5 months after the previous requests. almost all spending went to the new Arrival to qualify for the sign up bonus, and then went to my new Citi Premier. So not much spending at all on the Salie Mae's this time, nor the Priceline.
