Barclays approval!

Barclays approval!

Hi I'm new to the board. I've been working on repairing my credit in the last year and it's been a daunting process. I have 1 BOA card chargeoff 5 years old unpaid, 1 medical collection unpaid, and a CO collection from capital one- 4 years old. I also have a ton of lates from student loans but in the last 3 years, I've paid all credit cards on time. Things are looking up as I've been approved for an Auto lease and I've had 2 CLI with my Quicksilver One in the last year. I've been recently approved for a Barclays rewards card for $500 through a reconsideration. Do you know when I will be eligible for a CLI? Do they have automatic increases after a certain number of months? Thanks all!

Re: Barclays approval!

Welcome to the board and congratulations on your new card and on your hard work as well. Smiley Happy

Barclay's may give an auto CLI after 6 full statements cut if you use the card heavily and make very large payments. You will also want to be careful about not letting a high utilization report on the card.

If you continue to use it heavily and make very large payments, you may also receive an auto CLI after the 12th statement cuts. Hope this helps. Smiley Happy

Re: Barclays approval!

Congrats! How did you get them to reconsider? I have a brother who has 3 unpaid medical collections. His letter showed that was the reason for the decline. He has a 640 on TransUnion, which they pulled.

Re: Barclays approval!

Kimross congratulations on the approval.  I was starting my rebuild about 18 months ago.  Barclay rewards was a card I really wanted.  Applied and was denied but was approved for 1K after recon.  Low starting limit and high APR I was very happy to get this card.  Fast forward 1 year my CL is 2200 but I can't complain they gave me a chance.  I've run a fair bit of money through this account and enjoy the rewards.  Barclaycard has been very fair to me.

Re: Barclays approval!

thank you! I have a $2900 SL on my Capital One Quicksilver One. I use it like crazy and spend about 1200 a month than pay it off at the due date so that it reports to around $5 (still 0% Utilization) by the time statement cuts. I will now use Barclays and spend about $400 on it then pay in full each month so that I'm reporting 0%. Hopefully they see that I'm serious and grateful to have their card and use it wisely to get credit line increases!

I also have a $2K SL on a Care Credit Card reporting at about 2% util. Care Credit with a SL of $700 and it also reports 0%. Barclays saw that I've had consistent on time payments and no lates with those cards and reconsidered for an approval.

Re: Barclays approval!

Whoops typo. The SL of $700 is on a Credit One card and it reports at 0% each month with a $2 balance. My 1 year mark for Credit One is coming up in June (no lates) and hopefully they'll waive my annual fee. If not, I will close it.
