I have been rebuilding mode for going on two years now, completely went south on student loans and a car loan in 2012 & 2013. Rehabbed my student loan with on-time payments for 2 1/2 years now and am dumping extra money into the payments. Any extra cash I just throw it at that. I also got a Pay and Delete for my Collection on my car loan. I don't know why more collection agencies don't do that, helped me so much. Paid them the $2500 I owed and it was gone in an instant from my report
Climbed out of the dungeon in early 2016 with an OpenSky Secured Card, sucked it up and have been rebuilding ever since. Over the past year I was approved for an AMEX charge card. That helped get on the right track with a legit card and have been paying it off in full, putting a ton spend on it. Have several sub prime cards still open....it's helping me keep my overall credit limits up.
Recently I went past 670 with my EX score, haven't applied to a card in about a year. So I decided to go with the Cash Rewards from BOA. I have a checking account with them and there's always at least $2K in there (Don't know if that helps their decision making). BOOM Approved this morning with a $1K SL. Most of you probably will laugh at that, I'm ready to go out and buy some champagne hahaha.
Just been such a long journey and I've been desparate to close these darn sub primers and I'm hoping about at that point.
An important note also with this. I burned BOA on a secured card when I was really acting irresponsible and a mess with my financial life. It was for about $240. I paid that off in my rebuilding process. So thank you for taking a chance!
