After hanging out in the garden for more than a year, finally decided to go after my first "big boy" card in the Bank of America Premium Rewards.
Walked into a branch and applied for both the Cash Rewards (did this one first) and then the Premium Rewards card. Decided to do in-branch because apparently even if I apply for 2 cards, it would be only 1 inquiry on my report.
Was approved instantly for both. 20k on the Cash Rewards, only 8k on the Premium Rewards (going to ask to have that adjusted). I'm hyped because BoA sent me a letter saying that I could have my Preferred Rewards status expidited, and they ended up putting me all the way to the highest tier! I purposely waited until the enrollment went through before applying.
Data Points:
Experian Credit Score - 705
Income - $100k+
Credit Utilization Rate - 0% (left maybe $20 on 1 card to keep my score boosted *AZEO*)
Inquiries (last 12 months) - 1
Number of New Credit Lines (last 12 months) - 0
Average Age of Accounts - 7yr 8m
Preferred Rewards: Platinum Honors
Previous Cards: Discover IT (5.6k), Cap1 Quicksilver (1.8k)
Existing Relationship? Yes. Checking account since 2012. I actually had a Cash Rewards card up until a rough 2017 where they closed it due to non payment. I asked the representative and they say that the old card should not play a role in the decision.
Hope this helps someone out there looking at the Premium Rewards!
Congrats on your new cards
Congrats my unicorn card being the elusive PR... sounds like banking relationship/platinum rewards played a big role in your approval.
Congrats!!!
