Hey everyone,
after my little spree at the end of June I decided for aonther round of CLIs yesterday. So I hit the luv button for most of my cards.
I got approved for a CLI of $1,000 on my Discover IT (now at $4,500) and a CLI of $500 for my Capital One Platinum (now $1,300).
While Capital One doesn't seem to like me much (my very first secured card was them), I had a CLI just at the end of June with Discover (+$1,500) so I was super excited to see them approving this soon again. Getting there step by step... :-)
Rejections of CLIs I have received:
- Citibank Double Cash
- Amazon Store Card (Synchrony)
- Overstock (Comenity)
- Amex Blue Cash
I am still a bit surprised about Amex, my income is pretty good and I have been a member with them for 2 years but they haven't really approved a single CLI, yet for my wife they approved her after just 3 months, but anyway - it will happen eventually :-)
Hope this info is of use to anyone, looks like Discover is a bit more flexible again!
Cheers
That is great news
Keep up the good work
Thanks for the post
Mark
Congrats on your Discover It & Capital One Platinum CLI's
Congratulations on your CLI's
Congratulations on your increases! ! re: your rejections, What I often do is plan my CLI requests... is to use the card heavier the month (or two) before requesting..... but paying in full before the bill cute even if I make multiple payments..... THEN I request the increase. It shows usage... as well as ability to pay ( way before the due date )...and I believe it usually helps on the CLI requests.
Congrats!
Thanks for the tip! That's what surprises me even more to be honest, I spend a lot on my Amex Bonvoy since I travel quite a bit, including this year, and on multiple occassions hit near the card limit and paid up before the statement would post, never leaving any high utilization but maybe 1-5%. It might just be the amount of inquiries / recent credit openings. I did try to test the limits so there is that
I'll keep trying, thanks again for the tip - I will stay persistent to that! :-)
Congratulations on your CLIs!
Congrats!
I have no experience with Cap1, but some banks prefer a lot of little increases over a few big ones.
Citi turned down my wife for months and month before approving her. At least with an SP you just keep asking every so often.
Keep it up!
Congrats on your Disco and Capital One CLI's 👍🏼🥳
