Hi, I've been reading this forum for a long time, but first time posting. I just wanted to say thank you to all those who have shared their experiences, I wouldn't be where I'm at now in my credit journey without you. I started a little over a year ago with a 500 score, multiple baddies, and no positive trade lines. Now I'm sitting at around a 740-760 across the board, no baddies, 17 positive tradelines, and over 140k in available credit. Couldn't have done it without all the members here, so thank you!
Anyways, wanted to share my recent approval for the CSR. I really wanted this card, but was certain I couldn't get it since I was at 15/24 at time of applying. I tried for a Freedom 6 months ago and was declined. I have had a Chase checking account for nearly 10 years, so I took the advice of going into branch to check for pre approvals. Well, there it was, pre approved for pretty much any card! I applied for the CSR, and got the 30 day message from banker. A week later, it changed to 7-10 days. I was so sure it was going to be declined, but it turned out they just needed social security number verification. I sent in the form once it arrived in the mail and was approved a few days later for 21k! The only other Chase card I had was a Hyatt for 7k that I got about 6 months ago.
If you're over 5/24 and have a Chase banking relationship, I'd definately give it a shot checking for pre approvals in the branch. To add a data point, even though the banker gave me the 30 day message, the paperwork he printed off gave me listed the interest rate at 16%, so if you get a firm offer on interest rate, that might be a pretty good sign for approval. Good luck!
