Cap1 CLI 9,800 --> 19,800

What a nice suprise. Just thought I'd share some DP.

This card started as a rebuilder Platinum in 2010. Over the years its CL went from something like $500 to $750 to $1200 to $2800. It stayed at $2800 forever. For the last two years I put my spend on other rewards earning cards and tried to CLI but was always denied for having "too low monthly payments" of course for not using it enough.

6 months ago, I PC'd this to the Quicksilver One and combined the limit of another Cap1 (also rebuilder that ended with a $7000 CL) then closed that. So the QS became $9800. Then every other month I'd tried to get a CLI but was met with "this card recently had a CL change." During this time I also put more regular spend, about $1-6k/mo on the card.

Yesterday marked the 6 months (my understanding is that 6months was the wait time for another CLI) and I requested a limit of $15k.  Got a response that a rep would get back to me within 10days.

Today, I logged in and saw the new limit is $19,800! I believe SP only, haven't gotten any notifications on reports.

You requested 15k, and received 19.8k...  #Winning!!  Congrats on the increase as well as making the right decisions previously on those cards.

Yikes! Cap One loves you! Most of us mere mortals have no such luck with them LOL. I see people getting thrilled about a $500 increase from Capital One. Nice work whatever you're doing!

Capital One loves you to use the card. It makes sense that they did this if you are putting 1-6K on it a month LOL!

Back in the day, my Platinum card was at 2000. I charged all the way up to 2000 then paid it off in like 4 months and they auto-raised the limit to 2,500. Maxed it out again and paid it off within 3 or 4 months and they raised it to 6,500. Did it again up to the limit started paying it off and half way through repaying they raised it again to 8000. I haven't done it again since but I'm guessing they'd like me to Smiley Happy.

Congrats on that monstrous CLI!!
Yeah C1 loves usage! They want you to run that card to the ground! Max it all out if you may so long as you PIF before or after statement cuts. They used to give me an auto and regular bump when my QS was my daily driver. But now not so much.

Thanks everyone! Usage seems to be the key to unlocking that. I might check back to see if I would be so lucky in another 6 mos.
Now if only Chase would recognize my heavy use on their card too.

Awesome!

Cap One can be quite generous.

They treat me like a king and I use their cards as a result (or vice versa).

Congrats!
