I just got done doing the usual Sunday evening rounds through my bank/credit accounts and noticed a real shocker.
Last August, I applied for a Capital One Platinum card despite having 2 partially paid CO's with them that were 6 years old. I also had a 9 year old Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and no active credit lines.
I was approved for the minimum $300 with the 7 statements of "credit steps" to $500.
I haven't been expecting much with this account due to the trouble many users here have found trying to get Credit Limit Increases. I had resigned myself to thinking I was doomed to having a $500 Capital One credit limit until the end of times. I was even planning on leaving this account off my planned post Thanksgiving mini-app/CLI spree.
Well, it's a pre-Festivus miracle. I just logged into my Capital One account and found the Credit Line has been increased from $500 to $2000.
**bleep**?
I didn't request it. There was no notice sent. Nada. I had to log into my account TWICE just to make sure it was the right one.
I'm gonna let this matriculate and print to my CR before my mini-app spree next week.
It's good to see all the hard work I've done over the past year or so to rebuild is starting to pay off.
Hats off to Capital One. They certainly dispelled one of the ongoing memes here...for me at least...
there was another fourm where there have been posts just like this.

They have been giving auto CLIs recently. My fiancee got their platinum card with $500 limit in Jan and in June she applied for a CLI which was declined and within 2-3 days her statement was generated on which they gave a auto CLI to $2000 !!
Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
congrats!!
